Got the new car coming from Japan – hopefully on the ship 16th March. Thanks Mike Wellington at Mikes Cars in Dunedin http://www.mikescars.co.nz
I’m planning on getting the stereo sorted ASAP as have put up with the McIntosh in my 2006 Legacy GT.
The plan is to remove the McIntosh HU, and replace with Android Double DIN HU and keep the McIntosh amp and speakers – sounds easy!
http://jeremy.geek.nz/2010/06/17/mcintosh-ef-1080i-information/ has got great info on how to do it – I am hoping the 2008 isn’t too much different. Just need to ensure have the input side sorted into the amp.
The HVAC double DIN kit arrived from Japan today avoJDM – only 4 days to get here. http://www.avojdm.com/product_info.php?cPath=26_54_60&products_id=123. I also ordered the hazard light button http://www.avojdm.com/product_info.php?cPath=26_54_60&products_id=206
The McIntosh amp needs lineouts and not powered speaker outputs so need to get one of these. Looks like only have the + wire going into the amp with the -ve all earthed – will need to clarify how that happens at the amp end.

Will also need a standard Subaru to ISO as the Android HU has an ISO connector – so will supply power etc to the HU.
The Android HU has internal control for Steering Wheel Controls SWC’s and the wires will be at old HU – so that should be easy to splice into harness… Thanks to SVXdc at legacyGT.com
